SPEAKER BIO
Duane M. Abel is the creator of the long running comic
strip series ZED which appears in over 50 weekly newspapers nationwide and has
been called "a comic strip with a ton of heart" by Garfield creator
Jim Davis. His first children's book BOWLERS: The Cereal Mascot has
received rave reviews from such authors as Lincoln Peirce (the creator of BIG
NATE) and Teri Libenson of EMMIE AND FRIENDS fame. Duane is also a contributing
cartoonist to Woman's World Magazine (which really impressed his mother). His
student assembly DRAW YOUR DESTINY has reached over 1,000 schools and
an estimated 500,000 students! Stepping away from the drawing board, he has
acted on screen in several films including CHRISTMAS COLLISION, A BACHELOR'S
VALENTINE and PAPERMILL POND ROMANCE which he also wrote. He is a proud member
of The National Cartoonists Society and even prouder father to two boys and
confused husband to his wife, Coral.
ABOUT THE PRESENTATION
Some of the largest empires of the 20th century were
built by some of the most well known cartoonists the world has ever known, and
their secrets to happiness and success at home and on the job would have
been lost forever, except Duane Abel was a very good listener. With nothing
more than an easel and a marker (because he hates PowerPoint) Duane is able to
reconnect audiences with a renewed creative spark from the lessons to life that
are hiding in the Sunday Funnies! From Charles Schulz, Walt Disney and
other cartooning thought leaders, Duane is able to present a program that will
inspire creativity, encourage dreams and celebrate ambition!
